How to Use Magna-Qubix® to Make a 3D Easter Bunny
For many families, Easter is a holiday as rich in tradition as Thanksgiving and Christmas. And if you have children, you know that the Easter Bunny is the star of the show. This year, garner their excitement for this springtime holiday and start a new family custom of building a Magna-Tiles® 3D Easter Bunny with Magna-Qubix® magnetic shapes. Here’s a closer look at how you and your kids can create your own variation.
Designing Your Easter Bunny
There are two general approaches to building your 3D Easter Bunny out of Magna-Qubix® tiles. For a simpler activity ideal for younger children, your family can focus solely on making Easter Bunny faces. Follow these steps to bring their visions to life:
- Using a paper and pencil, draw a sketch of your Easter Bunny’s face, including the ears, eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Plan out which Magna-Qubix® pieces you’ll use by tracing the outline of each shape within the borders of the Easter Bunny’s face. You can even use colored pencils in this stage to coordinate which hues you’ll use where.
- Fostering your children’s critical thinking skills, you’ll then assemble the Easter Bunny’s face according to your blueprint, using magnetic shapes from your 85-piece, 29-piece, or 19-piece
- If you have pipe cleaners handy, use white ones to create whiskers that can attach to the tiles’ magnets near the nose and mouth.
If more advanced Magna-Tiles® builders surround your family’s table, kick things up a notch by designing a full-bodied Easter Bunny, like this one featured on our Instagram page. You and the kids can even turn this process into a brain teaser by challenging yourselves to use every single tile in your Magna-Qubix® set.
Accessorize Your Easter Bunny
To dress up your Easter Bunny for the holiday, encourage your children’s creativity by suggesting accessories for it to “wear.” For example, you can create a bowtie out of red Magna-Qubix® tiles and attach it to the Easter Bunny’s chin, or you might use blue and purple pieces to create a fancy top hat. You could even create a rabbit hole and decorate the Easter Bunny’s home! Don’t worry about running out of pieces for your accessories – Magna-Qubix® sets are compatible with other Magna-Tiles® magnetic shapes, so the fun doesn’t have to stop when you run out of 3D pieces.
Don’t Forget the Carrots!
Once your Easter Bunny has been created and dressed in its Sunday best, the only things left to build are its carrots! The cubes in each Magna-Qubix® set can be connected to form the long portion of the carrot, while a pyramid can be used for the tip. Attach some green prisms with a “click” for the carrot’s leaves, and you’ll then have a 3D feast fit for the Easter Bunny himself.
