When we release a new product, it feels like we’re introducing our baby to the world. Sure, we love our baby, but will everyone else love it too? Well, we have our answer and are thrilled to announce that MAGNA-TILES® Downhill Duo 40-Piece Set has been awarded a prestigious Preschool “Toy of the Year” (TOTY) Award for 2023!
What is Toy of the Year (TOTY)?
The TOTY Awards are known in the industry as the “Oscars of Toys,” and are given out annually by the esteemed Toy Foundation™. Finalists are selected from more than 600 nominations, recognizing the top toys, games, and licenses across 17 categories of play. MAGNA-TILES Downhill Duo was selected as the winner of the Preschool category, defined as toys that were developed for 3-5 year olds in mind.
Being a TOTY winner represents the highest level of innovation and excellence in the toy industry. TOTY winners have been rigorously evaluated and selected by experts and industry professionals, meaning they meet the highest standards for safety, quality, and play value. Category winners are determined by votes from Toy Association members, retailers, media, and the general public (you!).
If that sounds like a big deal, honestly, it’s because it is. As the only magnetic building brand finalist and winner this year, we are humbled and overjoyed to receive our company’s first TOTY award.
Meet Our Winner – Downhill Duo!
Downhill Duo continues the MAGNA-TILES legacy of redefining the creative possibilities within magnetic construction. Debuting August 2023, Downhill Duo anchors our new In Motion Collection (which also includes the Dashers and XTRAS: Roads sets), introducing dynamic play elements to a category previously confined by static building.
Downhill Duo is no “middle of the road” racing set, as our patented Dasher vehicles are designed to ride along the outside of tiles, for frustration-free play. This set also introduces new, versatile pieces, including our first magnetic Figures, colorful Vehicles and thrilling Ramps. Every piece is backwards and forwards compatible, providing unlimited building options and endless hours of Meaningful Play potential.
